To give students a hands on experience with physics requires carefully designed instruction and state-of-the-art lab equipment. For this project I have designed circuits modules that allow students to work in groups, guided through inquiry to understand the nature of current, resistance, and voltage in the context of experiments and activities. Students will construct mental models based on observation and experiments performed in this unit on circuits. The wires, lamps, battery holders, switches, voltmeter and ammeter will be manipulated by students as they work through the concepts addressed in the unit. Students are engaged in their hands and minds with the modules, practice scientific argumentation with peers, and discuss their findings with the class through white-board presentations. This project can, and will, be used at all levels of physics instruction.
