My students often come in to the classroom without eating breakfast. I try to catch them and send them down for free breakfast, but most of the time I don't know which of them haven't eaten. This is why I have a snack for them about halfway through our morning. Super Snack Time builds community in our classroom. My third graders are asked to focus for several hours during the morning on academics and looking forward to a snack each day gives them the energy to do this. Snack offers a much needed brain break before they dive back into academics.
