These Orff instruments will allow my students to see and hear what they are singing as they play it. It provides a picture of how sound is moving high and low. Students will begin to understand the relationship of sound and how it forms a melody. After imitating songs we sing on the instruments, they will be able to explore those sounds and songs to create their own music. The Orff instruments are very kid friendly and age appropriate making it easy for the students to be successful. Third grade students will create rhythmic accompaniments for a speech piece and then add melodic pitches using alto and bass metallophones. Fourth grade students will explore improvisation using all the instruments that will be purchased. Second grade students will use the instruments to create their own performance variations using parts we have learned as a class and ordering and layering those parts in their own way.
