The students in my special education classroom require movement and sensory breaks to support their learning and increase engagement. The use of yoga balls, wobble stools, and bouncy balls incorporate movement into our instruction, enabling my students to decrease their anxiety and need to regulate, while increasing their focus and engagement! Providing each of them with flexible seating opportunities daily will enable their sensory and movement needs to be met while continuing to learn, further integrating their needs into their learning and increasing independence! Instead of experiencing learning as an over-stimulating experience, using flexible seating in our classroom fosters a more fluid learning environment and allows students to self-regulate as needed. The yoga balls, wobble stools, and bouncy bands create a versatile learning environment and support student engagement, fostering student independence, as they learn to manage their sensory needs. Your donation to equip our classroom with yoga balls, wobble stools, and bouncy bands increases focus and attention. Students' sensory needs are supported through these flexible seating opportunities, allowing students the space and freedom to focus on their learning. Traditional plastic chairs provide little opportunity for movement, increasing anxiety and the need to fidget or regulate, often rocking back and forth. Giving students a structural environment that is conducive to their sensory needs, supports their engagement in learning. As we work to ensure students' rights to an education, we can create an environment that supports my students throughout this process.
