Water play is a sensory experience that young children are naturally drawn to. Not only does it stimulate the senses, but it also stimulates the mind and fosters development in many domains. Children develop socially and emotionally as they learn to take turns and work together. Fine motor skills and hand eye coordination is developed through each squirt and each cup of water poured. Children's vocabulary is developed through hands on experiences as children sprinkle, drip, and sieve water. As children engage in water play they are making observations, comparisons, measuring, and problem solving all which are necessary for developing 21st century thinkers.
