My students have a difficult time sitting still in their uncomfortable standard student chairs/desks. I'm hoping to offer seating options that fit their needs and allow them to focus on their work, by choosing a space that is comfortable. Flexible classrooms give students a choice in what kind of learning space works best for them, and help them to work collaboratively, communicate, and engage in critical thinking. We will use the multicultural carpet at the front of our room for morning meeting, mini-lessons, daily read aloud and while sharing individual or group presentations. The "Scattered Books" carpet will be used in our Book Nook for independent/silent reading. Both carpets will be used each day for our 10-minute meditation time, and as an option during working time using the clipboards. The stability balls will be the first to be introduced as flexible seating option for my students while using the clipboards as their work surface.
