My children love to be outdoors! By expanding and upgrading our gardening area, we will be able to use it as an additional learning center. The gardening supplies, books and playsets, would enhance all areas of the children's development. Math skills will be enhanced by counting and sorting the seeds, plants, vegetables, and fruits. From digging in the dirt to picking crops, the children will strengthen their large and fine motor skills. The children will take turns, work together, and take pride in their hard work which increases their social emotional skills. Through the books and playsets, the children will plan and recall their gardening experiences which will support their language and literacy development. The best part of this project is tasting all the fruits and vegetables that we have grown ourselves! Children are more likely to taste and eat foods that they have hands on experience with. We will accomplish this through the gardening process and the cooking experiences it will give us. This will guide the children to make healthy food choices in their daily lives.
