The materials in our project vary in subject area. The subjects included are: literacy, science, math, and physical development. The purpose of selecting a variety of materials is to help reach each students' interest and engage each student in the learning process. By allowing students to use these materials, they will have better fine motor development and control as well as hand-eye coordination. Literacy materials, such as the Chicka Chicka Boom Boom tree, will help students with letter recognition and retelling familiar stories through the use of manipulatives. The Three Little Pigs and The Snowy Day story kits will help students be able to retell familiar stories. The Three Little Pigs story kit, Marble Run, Better Builders Set, and the Rainbow Pyramid Stackers will help students develop problem solving skills while they build and create structures. Students will use their imaginations and their hands to express their thoughts while using the Cardboard Brick Set, Magnetic Fishing Set, and the vehicles. Number recognition skills will be learned when students utilize the tweezers, the Counting Keys and the Unlock It - number match activity. Students will be learning vital skills in multiple subject areas and develope their fine motor skills, which will help them to become more ready for kindergarten.
