Students with language delays need practice using specific language to describe objects by size, shape, color, function, and kind. Once children understand these modifiers, they can sort objects. The Fruit Sort and Mystery Box provide fun opportunities to describe and sort objects. Once students are able to describe objects, they can use language to work as a team to accomplish a goal. One child will use descriptive language to give a direction, while another child will use listening skills to follow the direction. The Creature Builder, Build a Bouquet and Create a Burger are motivating tools to carry out this partner activity. Children learn to use language to communicate for a fun and functional purpose. Students will have fun using descriptive language, working together and learning how to be successful communicators.
