Currently my students do not have any baseball or softball gloves. This makes it impossible to play with an actual ball and bat in a safe way. Instead we are stuck using a foam bat and a soft inflated rubber ball. We definitely make it work, but it is not ideal for the older students who play baseball and softball on an actual team. All of my students from K-12 play baseball or softball on some level, but my older students use similar equipment as my elementary students. I believe that this makes it harder for my students to be as excited about participating during this unit. If we were to have the proper equipment for the unit, then I believe the students would enjoy developing and perfecting their skills as it relates to actual baseball and softball. It is important to me that my students are able to thoroughly enjoy one of the greatest games in all of the world. I know that they would be very appreciative of this opportunity.
