The items on the list will be used to celebrate the accomplishment of our graduating Class of 2017 and their post secondary plans from a four year institution, two year Community College or Vocational school, to our military students. Every student will obtain an ice pop as a reward for committing to their post secondary plans (Colleges/ University/ Military) by signing our document and participating in the College Signing Day Photo booth. Our goal as Indio High School's Counseling team is to acknowledge the efforts of our students and encourage upcoming students to stay focused and reach their dreams. Each student going onto a four year institution will receive a going away package with bare essentials for their first day in college. The care package will include a string backpack, individual tissue packet to hold back the tears at graduation, a top Ramen noodle cup for those moments when financial aid has not come in yet, and students need a quick bite to eat, Post-It note pads to write down their fabulous ideas, White-Out to fix any minor mistakes along the way, a pencil to sharpen their minds and a pen to make permanent ideas a reality, a highlighter to highlight their accomplishments and late night studies, and a mint to remind them how much they have "mint" to their counselors throughout their four years in high school.
