Ancient Civilizations are a huge key into identifying how the modern world has developed. My students love to participate in hands on learning activities. Middle schools do not always have access to artifacts that have been found, providing connections to Ancient Civilizations. With a 3D printer, we could find printing files that replicate artifacts, so students can interact with them like archaeologists and historians. With a 3D printer in our classroom, students could research artifacts and print their own artifacts to interact with. Imagine if students could see the 3D shape of an Australopithecus skull, rather than just a picture. The things they could learn from 3D objects, far outweigh what they learn from photographs, in a PowerPoint or on a SMARTboard.
