As the great Mahatma Gandhi stated, "Live as if you were to die tomorrow and learn as if you were to live forever." This is what I encourage my students to do every single day. Children truly love being read to and it teaches them to genuinely love learning again. In a world now full of standardized tests defining who a student is (against our better will as teachers), students need to realize how fun education can be again. Yes, I used fun AND education in the same sentence. It is, in fact, possible! I'm requesting a variety of reading materials including Social Studies Literature Libraries, Fiction & Nonfiction Paired Classroom Classics, Math Big Book Favorites, Math Start Stories, Learn-To-Write with Mentor Texts, a Building Character Book Set, Read, Note & Respond Journals, and Book Bins (Levels J-P, Grades 1-4). These books, both mentor texts to use for math, reading, social studies, and writing; along with our updated classroom library, will help students be on their way to reaching my goal for them. We need YOUR help to help fund this. It will not only affect my twenty-five students this year, but every single one in my class for the next 30+ years. Anything you can contribute helps greatly!
