I teach physical education in an urban school in Texas. My students are active, inquisitive, and love to play different games and sports. 95% of our students are from low income families but work hard during and after school to become successful academically and athletically. The mission of our Intramural Sports program is to provide a variety of recreational activities to promote the development of the whole individual; physically, socially, intellectually and emotionally. This program is sponsored and coached by me and my team. Last year we didn't have a scoreboard or timing system for our games so the addition of one would allow for our intramural program to have a most professional feel. The players will love the feeling of having a scoreboard or timing system. After all, part of youth athletics is to teach children important life lessons.
