We are in a poor rural area and hope to create a great amount of excitement around Declaration Day for our senior students. We are partnering with the Senior Student Leadership Team to have a senior morning assembly including prizes, breakfast, and a time where the seniors can celebrate all together their next journey after high school. As anyone who works with high school students knows, food and prizes are quite the draw for participation and we want to be able to make it super fun and celebrate solely the seniors and their future decisions. Our school has had a Declaration Day in the past, but we want to join the National Movement towards reaching higher. By creating a really cool and fun event for our seniors we hope to continue building a college-going culture for our underclassman and celebrate our seniors going on! We also will have our staff wear their college gear and share a few stories (school-appropriate of course) about their post-secondary journey. We are making and hanging up teacher posters with what colleges they attended and graduated from.
