With a diverse set of students, comes a diverse set of learners. One language that I have found to be universal in my 4th grade classroom comes in the form of music. My fourth graders thrive in an environment where music is present. Singing spelling words, rapping a definition, or making a beat to a poem, are all common occurrences throughout a lesson. Through the use of Flocabulary, a learning program using hip-hop songs, student engagement will rise and a memorable learning experience will be at the forefront of my classroom. Flocabulary will allow my students to learn and retain grade level vocab words, as well as reteach invaluable objectives needed to pass their End-of-Year Exam. I will use Flocabulary as a regular part of the lesson plan to promote retention of vocab words through a catchy and upbeat song that my students will enjoy. Students will be able to use headphones to listen to the Flocabulary songs to use as a study tool through their personal devices! This gift is one that will continue to give as my students retain information in a way that is enjoyable for them.
