In second grade we do a lot of daily group work requiring us to be seated on the floor. Our tile floors are mopped once a week and are not always nice and clean or very soft or comfortable. The students will be able to learn better seated on a soft, clean, inviting classroom rug. One area we use daily is seated in front of the promethean board and another spot on the other end of the room we do partner work on the floor using iPads and interactive learning center activities. Our monies we get each year cannot roll-over to the next year, therefore in my 20 years of teaching I have not been able to afford classroom rugs for my students to sit on and do floor activities.
