As young readers and writers, students need to be exposed to as much reading and writing as possible. Each year, I explain to my students that everyone has stories to tell. I begin the school year by having my students write a personal narrative. As a writer and storyteller, myself, I love using my writing as a model for my students. This GBC document camera will allow me to do just that, project my writing for my students to see. Similarly, I will often share excellent examples of student work as a model for other students. Furthermore, I will use this technology to display incorrect student work (without names) to allow my students to critique the essay and avoid similar mistakes later on. By donating to this project, you will not only help us celebrate and show off excellent writing, you will help young writers grow and learn from their mistakes. As the world becomes more technologically advanced, the digital divide becomes greater and greater. This document camera will give my students access to technology they wouldn’t otherwise have, and learn writing and reading strategies in a modernized way.
