I teach 30 first graders in inner city Chicago. Most of my students wake up early and take multiple buses just to get to school. Getting them interested in learning is no easy task. That is where writer's workshop comes in. We supplement our language arts curriculum with daily guided writing to build their confidence and give them a chance to express themselves.
