I am seeking help to provide several different classroom seating options for these amazing kids! No two children are the same and so we must have seating options to meet their individual physical and sensory needs in the classroom. As we strive for inclusion, we must remember that these children's environments are often the easiest/quickest thing to change. Having more seating options in the district would help these students be more successful in the regular education setting. Sometimes all it takes to improve attention and student engagement is a seat that lets their bodies wiggle a little or maybe a seat that provides them with the stability that their body can't provide! I am requesting 6 Learniture Wiggle Stools and 1 Balance Ball Chair to be used by Special Education students in both the regular education and special education classrooms. These active sitting options promote a more engaged posture for children with low tone, activate the lower body and core musculature, and allow for movement based sensory input. I have requested various sizes in order to accommodate the size and age range of students in the Old Orchard Beach school district. I have also requested 1 inflatable wedge. This style of seat provides a dynamic seating option during floor sitting. The wedge design also encourages improved posture and can assist with comfort during floor time for children with tight hamstrings. The final seat I have requested is the Cushy Core Kids Chair. This is a floor sitting option that provides back support for children that have difficulty with postural control. Please help these kids find their "Just Right" seat!
