We have many hands on maker opportunities in our Library Media Center MakerSpace but students the overwhelming request is for technology resources dedicated to assist them in learning to code. Our students want to be innovators and global collaborators. They want to develop the coding skills necessary to develop solutions to challenges affecting themselves and others. I wish to develop a new program entitled "Code with Purpose" where students will learn 21st-century technology skills through technology applications such as TinkerCad (for 3D design and printing), Hour of Code, Scratch programming and Kodable. Need a new 3D printed sign for our outdoor classroom garden? Need a game that will help students develop English language learning skills? Need a visual design for a new water delivery system for a third world country? The sky is the limit with the right skills and resources!! Our students will use those skills to actively seek innovative solutions to challenges affecting the people and the world around them.
