These are ninth grade Biology students in an urban neighborhood school with about eighteen hundred students. They applied and have been accepted to the International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Programme, and have aspirations of earning an IB diploma in four years. Most students come in with reading levels below grade level and many come from families with little educational background. However, that hasn't stopped them from dreaming big. They all want to go to college and have made a commitment to themselves and our school to participate in a program that they know will be extremely challenging. Each day we work on skills from communication to data analysis to writing that will help them reach their dreams. It is exciting to watch them grow and gain confidence throughout the school year.

About my class
