My students are all on free or reduced breakfast/ lunch. Our school is located in between two government project housing developments. Our school is in a high crime rate area of Tulsa. My students struggle to have their basic needs met in a daily basis so it is very difficult to teach kids who are in survival mode. That being said, our children are wonderful and I know deep down inside they have a desire to learn more about the world around them.
