Having the supplies we need to accomplish our goals on a daily basis helps keep the focus on the skill being taught. With whiteboards for each child, they can practice effortlessly on the rug during the delivery of the skill, and on their own, over and over. Children LOVE to use markers, and the whiteboards allow them endless practice with multiplication, division, rounding and any other standard they must master. We go through pencils like crazy- I am always buying pencils for my classroom, at stores, tag sales, or wherever I can. The little golf pencils will be awesome for them to take home for homework, as most students don't have even that little item at home to work with. Pencil top erasers are the best for saying; "We all make mistakes", and they give the "O.K" to make them. The books on the standards will be a great addition to the math block, encouraging the reading of content based material to extend their learning. They are also a great way to introduce a topic. Finally, I can see the games being used at the small group table and then in centers on their own. Students love to learn with games, and will challenge each other, not realizing, all the while, they are mastering a skill! I love to watch them have fun learning; it makes my day!
