"Crucial to science education is hands-on involvement: showing, not just telling; real experiments and not just 'virtual reality." Martin Rees Success in the classroom has been a struggle for the young men of Tulsa Boys Home. With these microscopes, students will explore plant and animal tissues, unicellular organisms, and the basic structures of the cell. Students will learn the basic functions and procedures for using a light microscope. They will prepare and examine slides of different specimens. This project will allow students to gain needed social skills while working with others and a better understanding of science concepts through tactile learning. Our goal is to provide positive experiences in the classroom that will enrich and build educational self-esteem.
