At the present time my classroom has regular chairs and tables. My students want to do well. They really struggle to stay still and focused. This becomes an issue when I need them to complete their work. I really feel that having alternate seating will allow my students to focus more on what needs to be done in the classroom. They will be able to move their bodies, while working at the same time. Students get to choose seating based on where they learn best. A 2015 study by researchers at the University of California, Davis MIND Institute — an international research center that studies neurodevelopmental disorders — found that fidgeting for children with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder may actually help them think.
