We are first graders--smart, imaginative, creative, mathematicians, readers, writers, dreamers, all who love school! I am a first grade teacher to 20 extremely different six-, seven- and eight- year olds. My role is to provide a safe, nurturing environment where students are given the opportunity to learn Math, Reader's Workshop, Writer's Workshop, Phonics, Science and Social Studies, no matter what the circumstances are. My school is in a residential district but buses the majority of its students from low-income areas within the city.
