The students at our school come from a wide cultural and economic background. We are a Title 1 school with a large number of students living in poverty. The school, despite our numerous challenges, has managed to be the top academically performing school in our state. There are approximately 500 high school and 350 middle school students. Our community is located on the Gulf of Mexico. Our band program, in the last two years, has tripled in size. The 2009-2010 school year was the most successful year for our band program in decades. Both our middle and high school band programs scored superior ratings at our district marching and concert evaluations. The students in band are hard working, dedicated young men and women. Our band students are also involved in many community and service projects. The high school band was invited to perform and volunteered last April for the Keep America Beautiful project in our area. Our band students perform annually at numerous community events
