These 5 iPads will be used during our literacy centers. Each student in the small group will use an iPad to explore books online, as well as receive additional instruction through educational apps to further their understanding of our CORE curriculum. “We need technology in every classroom and in every student and teacher’s hand, because it is the pen and paper of our time, and it is the lens through which we experience much of our world.” – David Warlick. I feel that giving students the opportunity to learn through a variety of paths and experiences is the key to solidifying their understanding. With that being said, these iPads will give a familiar route to learning for my students. I want to veer away from the past where everything has to be paper and pencil and a corresponding worksheet. Kids nowadays are technology savvy far beyond their years and I want to use that to its’ fullest potential. If I can’t beat ‘em, I’m going to join ‘em in their love and enjoyment for technology and use it to foster a love and enjoyment for education. I know that these iPads and educational applications will exponentially benefit the future of my students.
