When teaching small groups at conventional shaped tables (like rectangular or circular), it is hard to reach students across the table. Since one of my colleagues is moving to another school, her uniquely shaped table became available. It has four sides (to seat up to six students on narrow chairs or stools), and a concave semi-circle where I can sit, thus being able to better reach students. The problem is, two of the table's sides are not wide enough for conventional classroom chairs. My colleague shared that she had successfully used it with wobble chairs, which also support attentive learning. Some of the most important learning in the classroom happens in a small group, and the better I can do to literally and figuratively reach those students, the better job I will be doing. I have seen other stools in classrooms, and they just don't hold up to repeated use. The Kore Patented Wobble Chair is very durable, and support learners that need to move. In my experience, all kids need to move, and the movement is beneficial to their learning as well.
