I am currently a second-grade teacher in Houston, Texas. This is my 7th year teaching and I absolutely adore it! Over these 7 years, I have noticed an intense need for social and emotional well-being. There is obviously a need for academics, but what I have witnessed is students getting bogged down with assignment dates, even at the age of 7 and 8 years old. Although I agree that academics is crucial to growing the whole child, I also believe that part of educating each of these students includes tending to their emotional well-being. That being said, this 200-hour course, has been proven to help educators master the skills needed in order to educate the whole child. I will learn things that will help them manage stress which would, in turn, lead to increased attendance as well as better focus and attention.
