Being a child and growing up in the world we currently live in presents a large amount of challenges and issues. While students do not all experience these challenges, they all need to be aware of what is going on around them and understand the struggles others may face. Doing a class read with the book Harbor Me, will allow students to dive into real world issues that are encountered daily by some of their peers. This book will assist is in our common core learning while also introducing empathy and understanding. Students will be forced to think beyond the literature and apply it to the world around us.

About my class
