The majority of my students live with a single birth parent and a step parent or with grandparents. They not only come to school to learn, but to have other emotional needs met. We have a wonderful community that helps our students with those basic needs of food and clothing. But, it is difficult to meet the needs of the teachers for their classrooms. My classroom is of average size (approximately 24 X 24) with tile floors and concrete block walls.
