With the economic disadvantages and limited access to 21st century tools, our students are falling farther behind despite having a very dedicated and passionate team of educators who want to see their students succeed. This grant is needed as a catalyst for positive change while offering students the tools they need to be successful as students and as productive citizens in our society. Operation Digital I.M.P.A.C.T. promotes the use of technology to improve classroom instruction in a 21st century learning environment. This project will help to level the playing field, allowing Our elementary school students to have some of the same opportunities as their financially advantaged peers. Our goal is to provide necessary tools for these children to demonstrate that they are not defined by their disadvantages and inspire them to be civic leaders in the greater community.  The objectives of Operation Digital I.M.P.A.C.T. are to utilize technology in hopes of encouraging creativity, inspiring students to seek out Science Technology Engineering and Math (S.T.E.M.)- related careers, and promoting global awareness and connectedness. Through the use of Chromebooks, my students will have the opportunity to increase their reading proficiency through listening to audiobooks, creating digital stories, and publishing their work for their peers to practice their reading fluency. In math, students will utilize the Chromebooks to metacognitively solve word problems while screen-casting their work. In social studies and science, students will practice researching, writing, editing, and presenting information to their peers based on digital primary sources available.
