These materials will give my students more opportunity for hands-on learning, remediation, and making models. I try to come up with more interactive activities to make learning science more interesting. Because of this effort we use a lot of glue, construction paper, colored pencils, scissors, pencils, etc. For example this year students recycled old plastic bottles and used balloons to make a model of the digestive system. Currently we are constructing models of the digestive system in which they will have to explain how food is digested within the different organs of the digestive system. We also made a moving arm model to show how muscles and bones work together to help the human body move. To show how the human body systems interact students will make a paper bag body including all the systems we talked about in class and explain how they all depend on each other. With these classroom materials they will be able to have more concrete and explicit instruction in order to comprehend the concept at a much higher level. For those students who struggle with learning will be helped with the remediation materials purchased. These materials will access their knowledge on their based on their own ability level making it easier for them to understand the concept.
