Throughout the year, my students have been developing their skills as mathematicians, scientists and creative thinkers. Can you name one career that doesn't utilize technology? Engineers are utilizing the latest technology to design structures, roads, and develop plans. Scientists are using technology to learn more about the human body and our changing world. As a teacher, it is my job to prepare students for the future- a future as a college student, a future as career professional, a future as a digital citizen. The problem is many of the students in classrooms have limited access to technology. Technology is constantly evolving. Our students need to learn how to use technology effectively. Our class has a strong focus on personalized learning paths, student collaboration, creative projects and growth! Students have access to instructional programs that can help them master skills necessary to be successful. They have access to virtual learning pathways and higher order thinking problem sets; however, our devices in the classroom are limited. Having a few Chromebooks would allow my students to have access to these resources and help them reach their personal goals. With your help, students will be able to use Chromebooks to help them develop typing skills that are necessary in the real-world, master math facts and problem-solving skills, learn how to code using code.org, travel the world using virtual field-trips and become digital citizens.
