I am a first grade teacher looking to create a classroom with optimal seating for all students to maximize their learning. I have been a primary grade inclusion teacher for 12 years. Every year my class fights over the one bean bag chair and rocking chair in the classroom. Why is this? I feel it is because of the same reason office professional appreciate a good chair; it makes "working" more comfortable thus making you more vested in your job. Students, I feel, are more vested in their learning if they have a choice of seating that they feel will help them be the most focused and ready to learn. We all know how important the primary years are for students and I am trying to create a classroom that allows for students to maximize their learning in these critical years.
