Just as modern technology is a tool to facilitate learning in reading, math, and science; technology can be an integral part of learning how to identify, express, and manage difficult emotions that inhibit learning and healthy relationships at school. Students who suffer from ADHD, anxiety, depression, trauma, autism, and/or learning disabilities can use technology to comfortably explore feelings and new ways of coping and controlling attention and impulses. Through the use of innovative apps and games, students will use technology to learn appropriate communication, impulse control, relaxation, and social skills in a fun and engaging way. Technology cannot replace human interactions when teaching social emotional skills but it can provide an additional way for students to interact with lessons that provide much needed modeling and instruction on appropriate behavior.
