Our students deserve to be able to experience going to Atlanta and visiting LEGOLAND and our State Capitol. Many of our students have never even been to Atlanta, so this trip could quite possibly be the only time some of our students get to go to Atlanta. They have all worked very hard this year, and a field trip would further ground their learning experiences and help them become life experiences. We will visit the State Capitol, take a guided tour, and visit the museum. Then, we will head to LEGOLAND, and the students will be involved in a workshop where they have to create their story characters and setting with Legos. After they create their characters and setting, students will craft a plot and actually write their story down. We also plan to let them eat lunch at LEGOLAND and then explore the park after their workshop before heading home. A big push in education right now is to have authentic learning experiences. What better way to give that to our students then by taking them to the State Capitol to see all of the civics topics they learned about? What better way to inspire those students that don't want to write or have difficulty writing than to give them an outlet to structure their writing with Legos? We want to give our students the opportunity to thrive and become confident, knowledgeable members of society, no matter the situation they were born into. We want to help pull them out of the typical "statistic." We want them to become a phenomenon!
