Incorporating the Next Generation Science Standards has been an ongoing task this year with lots of opportunity for engineering and hands on fun. Students have spent, class, lunch, and after school time completing marble roller coasters, cell phone blocking devices and egg crash vehicles. Our next build is metal sculpture held together by magnets! Students will use their understanding of magnets and magnetic fields to build their own sculpture that meets the engineering design criteria and constraints. Each student will receive 10 magnets with this donation use these magnets to assemble a sculpture. This project will go beyond science and engineering to incorporate an art component that hasn't been present in out previous builds. I have told the students about this project and they can't wait to get started. Their big question was, "Do we get to keep what we build?" With your help, they will have the ability to keep what they created.
