I teach fifth & sixth grade students with autism. They are strong visual learners and love to participate with their mainstream peers as much as possible, however one of their major obstacles they face is the ability to effectively communicate with peers and advocate for themselves. Our school is 97% free or reduced lunch with a 74% ELL population including our kindergarten-eight grade autism program.
