I teach at a high-need public high school in New York with a focus on college preparation. Many of our students are interested in clubs but, given the budget crisis, it is difficult for our school to fund anything beyond classroom necessities. The poverty rate at our school is approximately 75% and parents struggle to provide the basics for their children.
