La Academia is a two-way dual immersion elementary school where students come from various backgrounds. From K-5 students are supported in their Spanish and English literacy to help build bilingual learners. One third of the students come from native Spanish speaking backgrounds, and the other two thirds of the school are speakers of other languages (English, Portuguese, etc.) Our 2nd grade class is a beautiful depiction of uniqueness and togetherness. As students work together to question, explore and grow together, they are building lifelong memories and new understandings. Our classroom is an inclusive environment where all are seen for their abilities and what they have to bring to the table.
