Your contribution will directly help my students engage in their learning because it will help make my classroom a comfortable place that promotes self-advocacy, collaboration and learning. Traditional classroom desks are not ideal for all students which can lead to students being distracted and uncomfortable during the school day. Being comfortable when learning and allowing for students to have a choice in their seating can help empower students to take control of their own learning environment. The standing desks, tables and free standing chairs, and bar-top style seating options allow students to assess what type of learning environment they need on a daily basis. By recreating my learning space, I am giving students choice in their seating which can help them further engage in lessons and make my classroom a place for collaboration, risk taking, and both personal and educational growth. I hope to build an environment that is welcoming and safe for my students and flexible seating will help accomplish this goal.
