Keeping scholars engaged is every teachers top priority in the classroom. This past semester I realized something wasn't working with note taking. Notes had become a tedious task that students dreaded writing in their notebooks. I was only given 3,000 sheets of paper for every 18 weeks to use for 152 students. Supplies are extremely scarce at my school. However, with these materials it would become a game changer! I don't want my students being sponges and just absorbing information and slowly drying out as time passes, but be like trees, growing stronger and wiser over time with knowledge they've stored using these creative measures! Students will still be getting pertinent information but will now be able to translate the history being presented into their own pictures and thought processes through interactive guided notes. Everyday they will follow along and create pictures and short responses that connect themselves to the history being presented while still having the note page display all the finer details. With the wall pads, the students also get to create lesson demonstrations to hang on the walls for all 7 of my classes to benefit from; kinda like a quick reference guide for the class. The post-its also give myself an opportunity to get immense amounts of feedback from students about exam questions, classroom culture, and popular opinion on project topics. Once again, supplies are a scarcity at my school, help end my classrooms drought and let my forest of students grow!
