My students would benefit immensely from having flexible seating options in our classroom. My little ones come from very diverse families and backgrounds and they all have very unique needs when they come to school each day. I want to provide them with an environment that they look forward to coming to every day and where they know they will be set up to succeed. Not only does flexible seating increase student motivation and engagement, but it offers them an opportunity to truly get to know themselves as learners and understand how they learn best. The stability (yoga) balls and core discs offer students an alternative to regular classroom chairs, while also providing them the ability to strengthen their core as they sit and work. It's a win-win! The Big Joe chairs provide a cozy alternative for students who would rather sit in a comfortable chair while working. The bathroom rugs are for students who like to work while laying down on their stomachs with a clipboard. This will change the way my students will feel about coming to school every day. They will feel empowered by having a choice of how they would like to learn. They will be more engaged, motivated, and dedicated. My students deserve to be provided a place where they feel comfortable and confident in their learning!
