I work for approximately 300 low-income students in Washington, DC. My kids universally receive free lunch at school and have little or no access to resources that aren't provided by the school. Most of my students read 3 or 4 grades below where they should read, but this is a result of poor schools, access to resources, etc. When given books, my students have all proven themselves to be eager, responsible library patrons - most come five days a week!

About my class
