As a Literacy Specialist, I know how important it is to provide an inviting classroom library for my young emergent readers. My students are taking their first steps toward literacy. My goal is for all of my students to enjoy the purpose and process of reading and writing, as well as view themselves as authors and readers. In order to create this magical space, I need to organize my books in a way that encourages them to make careful selections but also facilitates choice and developing new interests. My students need an organized library to help them as they select books during Reader's Workshop. I'm requesting two sets of Rigby Bookrooms: Leveled Readers for Levels A-C and C-D. With these leveled books in our classroom library children will have an easier time browsing titles, topics, and feel independent. I am eager to develop this space for my students to help encourage and model good reading habits. They already show such an interest in learning to read, now I just have to find a way to show them all of the books they have to choose from. Books will be displayed in the requested single-sided book display.
