Having a variety of flexible seating options in my classroom will create an environment that encourages movement and engagement in academics. I have four tables (each sits 6 students), which will each have a different type of flexible seating option. Six and seven-year-old students need movement throughout their day whether it is the simple back and forth movement of wobble chairs or the gentle bouncing of stability balls and flex bands on chairs. Knee pads and wobble cushions will provide an alternative to sitting at tables and encourage children to work comfortably around the classroom. Clipboards will provide students a hard surface to work on when working around the classroom. Book bins will be used to store student materials/papers since they will not have individual desks. My students are hard working and strive to do their best each day. By providing them with these flexible seating options I hope to create a learning environment that meets their diverse needs.
