My students have lost 2 teachers already this school year, and with both teachers went all the supplies that a classroom needs. My students regularly tell me that our room needs a tape dispenser, lap boards, caddies for supplies, and a large carpet for group work. We are always having to borrow supplies from other teachers or the office, and I would like to have our own supplies in our room. I am a first year teacher and have provided several items we need, but on a limited budget it is becoming a strain to give these kids everything they deserve. Our school is an inner-city school, and for some of my students their greatest security is coming to school. I am trying to create a warm, comfortable, secure room for them with all the things they need to ensure their feelings of security to enhance their learning.
